Karen Whitworth

Art has always played an important role in Karen’s life. From an early age her love for color and creativity has sparked a pursuit for visual inspiration. At the age of eight her family moved to beautiful South Central Alaska. It is here that she resides today and bases most of her artwork on.

Though most of her pieces are completed in oil and acrylic, Karen also uses pastels, watercolor, and charcoal. Her versatility with multiple mediums allows her to achieve a style all her own. Through middle and high schools Karen studied art under local artists such as Douglas Girard, Shane Lamb and Gail Moses.

Karen has received multiple blue ribbons for her entries in the Alaska Junior Duck Stamp Contest as well as two grand champion, one best of show and many first place ribbons for her entries in the Alaska State Fair. Since her graduation from high school in 2003 Karen has been continuing her artistic endeavors in the form of murals and commissioned work. Now married and a mother she has found even more inspiration and hopes to pursue her art even more passionately.
